Former UMC chairman & CEO Jackson Hu: Taiwan cannot afford to miss out quantum era

Although 90% of the world’s advanced semiconductor chips are manufactured in Taiwan, Taiwan’s lag in quantum technology may cause it to miss out on important opportunities in the quantum era. Jackson Hu, former chairman and CEO of United Microelectronic Corp. (UMC), expressed concern over the risk, and warned that TSMC’s lack of quantum technology advantage may cost its orders.
