China is likely to revoke certain preferential tariff rates granted to Taiwanese products covered by the cross-straits Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), including automation equipment and machine tools. In response, Taiwan-based Hiwin Technologies, a major maker of mechanical transmission components, is gearing up to boost its production ratio in China while also diversifying overseas markets and manufacturing bases.
