Micron mulls investing up to US$160 billion in new Texas plant

US memory chip manufacturer Micron Technology is considering investing at least US$80 billion, and up to US$160 billion in Austin, Texas for a new plant. The move was unveiled when Micron filed a series of applications this week with the Texas State Controller, seeking a site in Lockhart, Caldwell County. The applications describe an eight-phased semiconductor manufacturing facility known as “Project Evergreen.”
