This strategic shift helped the chipmaker return to profitability, marking a notable comeback.

TSMC supplier cost-cutting rumors denied by MIC amid tariff uncertainty

In response to the upcoming announcement of semiconductor chip tariff policies by the US government, Hsin-Ming Kao, chairperson of Marketech International (MIC), which has close ties with TSMC and is responsible for the turnkey project at TSMC’s Arizona plant, stated that MIC essentially follows TSMC’s lead in all strategic deployments. She stated that they will wait for US President Donald Trump’s announcement before assessing further, adding that she believes Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs should already have contingency plans in place, as the minister is quite familiar with the industry.
