Since its establishment in first-quarter 2021, Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group (AXG) has received approximately US$3.5 billion from Intel, but the group has lost US$2.1 billion so far, according to Jon Peddie Research (JPR). Therefore, JPR raised the possibility that Gelsinger might axe AXG, following a series of restructuring underway since the CEO took over in February 2021. The new Intel CEO has already dumped six businesses, saving US$1.5 billion in operating costs, according to JPR.
