China pilots unified AI compute network to end regional fragmentation

China officially launched its Computing Power Internet Pilot Network on May 17, 2025, in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, during the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. Led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and supported by China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom, the initiative aims to unify and virtualize compute infrastructure across the country.

AI chips and CoWoS orders keep HPI’s outlook running hot

Hon. Precision (HPI), a leading IC test equipment manufacturer, is benefiting from robust AI chip demand. In the first quarter of 2025, its after-tax net profit surged to NT$2.568 billion (approx. US$85.7 million), representing a year-over-year increase of 179.34%. Looking ahead to the second half of 2025, HPI chairman Alan Hsieh stated that AI applications are flourishing across various fields. Currently, there is no sign of market corrections for AI chips or advanced packaging technologies such as Chip on Wafer on Substrate (CoWoS) as rumored.
