Phison profit drops on currency losses as NAND prices rise, CEO flags 2026 supply concerns

Phison Electronics reported a sharp decline in second-quarter 2025 profit as steep exchange-rate fluctuations eroded earnings, even as revenue climbed on stronger NAND pricing. Net profit fell 34.7% from the previous quarter to NT$745 million (US$24.82 million), with currency losses of NT$1.345 billion accounting for about 7.5% of operating revenue. Revenue rose 29.3% sequentially and 12.6% year-over-year to NT$17.89 billion, while gross margin narrowed to 29.1%.

Qisda-backed Diva Labs rolls out new display tech for hospitals and industrial control

Diva Laboratories, a medical display unit of Taiwan’s Qisda Corp., is expanding with three growth drivers: the world’s first 55- and 65-inch optical bonding (OB) LCDs for operating rooms, a QDII off-the-shelf display line set for mass production in October, and OLED panels tailored for ultrasound imaging. AMD CEO calls export controls noise, reveals counter-strategy

Recently, there has been widespread discussion about US President Donald Trump imposing “export taxes” on American AI chipmakers such as Nvidia and AMD for products exported to China. Wired magazine published an in-depth interview with AMD chair and CEO Lisa Su. However, the interview took place in late June, so questions regarding the AI chip “export tax” were not addressed. Nonetheless, Su pointed out that even if the US stops exporting AI chips, AI technology development will continue globally, and described export controls as merely noise.
