Quanta Chairman Barry Lam announced that the company will shift toward independent research and development, moving beyond contract manufacturing. While acknowledging the risks, Lam said Quanta’s strong profitability provides the foundation for this transformation. “This metamorphosis must happen,” he said. “Otherwise, we will forever remain a worm, never a butterfly.”
