With declining chip demand for consumer devices and new capacities gradually coming online, foundry houses could hardly sustain full utilization of their fab capacities, but it is GlobalFoundries (GF) and China’s SMIC that may bear the brunt of the impacts as they can no longer benefit from a spillover of orders from their peers in Taiwan, according to industry sources.
