Japan was once a global leader in semiconductors and consumer electronics but fell off the wayside during the 1990s. Taiwan in turn has emerged as a key partner in the AI, smartphone, PC, and future vehicle industries. Kenneth Tai, chairman of Zettabyte, noted that Acer’s founding was a turning point for Taiwan’s electronics industry, laying the groundwork for semiconductor growth.
