UMT secures US$3.7 million in satellite orders as industry demand surges

Universal Microwave Technology (UMT) reported that cumulative orders from low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite clients in 2024, including shipped and pending deliveries, have reached nearly NT$1.2 billion. Its largest customer accounts for over 55% of all LEO satellite orders, with more than NT$400 million in products still awaiting shipment, most of which are set to go out in the fourth quarter.

AI penetration will be key to closing the substrate supply-demand gap, says industry

The second half of the year is typically a peak season for substrates. Despite market volatility, strong demand for AI continues to drive the global integrated circuit (IC) substrate market. The Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) anticipates that the global substrate market will reach US$15.32 billion in 2024, representing a yearly increase of 14.8%. A slight recovery is expected in 2025; however, due to the still low penetration rate of AI products, the supply-demand gap for substrates remains significant.
