Arizona emerges as a semiconductor hub with TSMC and Intel’s 12 fabs

Initial market skepticism doubted whether new fabs from TSMC and Intel in Arizona could ramp up production on schedule. However, TSMC’s first 4nm fab began mass production at the end of 2024, while Intel’s Fab 52 and Fab 62 have also started production, officially entering the 18A process node generation before year-end. Semiconductor equipment suppliers confirm that TSMC will establish six fabs in total, while the addition of Fab 52 and Fab 62 to Intel’s Ocotillo campus brings its count to six fabs as well.
