As cooling becomes a key issue for data centers, especially with liquid cooling solutions gaining prominence, in the past few years Taiwan-based IC design firms such as Weltrend and Anpec have found inroads into the data center market for fan motor driver ICs, breaking through in a field that used to be dominated by foreign companies.

At the TSMC 2024 Japan Technology Symposium held on June 28, besides discussing the previously announced A16 chip technology, TSMC also revealed that it achieved revenue growth in Japan for 2023, against overall market trends. The company projected a significant demand for AI in Japan and announced that the 3nm technology would soon be introduced to automotive chips.

Since late 2023, the semiconductor industry has been eagerly anticipating the upcoming edge AI boom, particularly in AI smartphones and AI PCs – the two largest consumer electronics applications. This trend is expected to drive significant upgrades and replacement cycles for main computing chips and various peripheral chips.

VinFast, which commenced construction of its inaugural manufacturing facility in India in February, may open the facility three months ahead of schedule.
