IC design talent unlikely to be axed despite downturn

With display driver IC (DDI) supplier FocalTech Systems announcing plans to lay off 10-15% of employees and reduce pays for all its senior executives, market concerns are rapidly rising over whether the entire IC design industry will fall into a storm of layoffs and salary cuts, according to industry sources. But IC design engineers will probably stay unaffected, the sources added.

With notebooks and servers leading the way, Inventec optimistic about 2023 growth

At its earnings call, Inventec stated that due to the poor market situation, the revenue for the fourth quarter of 2022 could see a small quarterly decrease at about the same level as the second quarter of 2022. In addition, since notebooks, servers, and smart devices all have chances for growth, it’s estimated that 2023 will still maintain positive growth.
